About Us

Orleans Capital Management is one of Louisiana’s largest independent investment advisors, primarily providing domestic core fixed income, investment grade core and intermediate fixed income and domestic equity asset management.

We serve a wide range of clients, consisting primarily of public pension plans, foundations and endowments. We currently manage approximately $1.6 billion (as of 12/31/23) and are proud of the fact that a substantial amount of the assets we manage consist of additional allocations from existing clients.

Orleans Capital is a registered investment advisor. The Securities Exchange Commission granted Orleans Capital's registration on August 21, 1991. Investment management is the firm's sole business.

Institutional investment management services were initiated in 1991 at the firm's inception. As of January 1, 2024, Orleans Capital Management is now wholly owned and controlled by Argent Financial Group, Inc.

Emily C. Becker

President and Chief Investment Officer

Emily serves as the senior portfolio manager and member of the fixed income investment committee with primary responsibility for public and corporate pension funds as well as for foundations.

Prior to joining Orleans Capital, Emily served as an institutional investment officer at a Louisiana bank, providing investment portfolio strategy and execution. She started her career in investment administration with the trust department at a major regional bank in Houston.

Emily holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Baylor University and has over 30 years of experience in the investment management field. She currently serves on the Executive Board of the Louisiana Tennis Association and is a member of the New Orleans Northshore Chapter of Legatus.

Catherine (Cappy) M. Johnson

Executive Vice President, Senior Portfolio Manager

Cappy is a senior portfolio manager at Orleans Capital and responsible for high-net-worth individual clients, foundations, and endowments, providing personalized financial strategies to help them achieve their goals. Cappy brings over 20 years of experience in investment management specializing in equities and tax-exempt portfolios. Cappy started her career as a financial advisor in New York with a major Wall Street brokerage firm. She received a bachelor’s degree and an M.B.A. in Finance from Tulane University.

Cappy is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Louisiana where she is also a Past President. In addition, Cappy is a member of the Allstate Sugar Bowl committee and currently serves as chairperson of the Endowment Committee for St. George’s Episcopal School.

Rodney J. Abele, CFA

Senior Portfolio Manager and Member of Investment Committee

Rod is a senior portfolio manager with primary responsibility for high-net-worth individuals as well as foundations and endowments. Formerly, Rod was an executive vice president of a major regional bank and manager of the Trust and Capital Markets Division.

A Chartered Financial Analyst, Rod received a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Notre Dame and a Master's of Business Administration from Tulane University. He is a past president of a religious foundation and currently serves on its Board of Directors. Rod has over 40 years of experience in investment management.

James Story, CFA

Senior Portfolio Manager

James Story serves as a Senior Portfolio Manager at Orleans Capital, specializing in fixed income investments. He brings over two decades of experience, including working as Principal and Senior Portfolio Manager at Barksdale Investment Management prior to joining Orleans, overseeing various fixed income strategies. He also brings experience from Guggenheim, J.P. Morgan, and Morgan Asset Management.

James holds a BBA in Economics/Finance from the University of Tennessee-Martin and is a CFA charter holder.

Nina W. English

Chief Compliance Officer

Ms. English joined the firm in 2023 and serves as the firm's Chief Compliance Officer.  She is an attorney who began her career practicing law at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in Los Angeles. She then returned to her native New Orleans with the law firm of Gordon Arata McCollam Duplantis & Eagan, where she became a partner practicing commercial litigation and labor and employment law until 2016.

She received a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College and a law degree from the UCLA School of Law. Nina has served as Board Chair for New Orleans People Program, as Board Vice-Chair and coach for Girls on the Run, New Orleans, and as Treasurer for the Lake Vista Crime Prevention District.  She currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Academy of the Sacred Heart, New Orleans.

Eugenie G. Fromherz

Associate

Eugenie joined Orleans Capital in September 2022 as an associate after starting her career at Merrill Lynch as a Registered Private Wealth Client Associate servicing high net worth individual clients.  Prior to Merrill, Eugenie owned and operated her own sewing business for over 10 years specializing in custom window treatments, ball gowns and heirloom baby clothes.

Eugenie received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Sewanee: The University of the South.  Eugenie also serves on the Academy of the Sacred Heart Alumnae Board.

Claire Crane

Associate

Claire joined Orleans Capital in the summer of 2024 as an Associate.  She graduated from Texas Christian University in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in history and in economics. After graduation, she interned at Live Nation in Dallas and then worked as a Financial Planning Analyst at a wealth management firm in Houston.

Joseph T. Casper, IV

Trader/Operations Manager

J.T. assists portfolio managers with trading and portfolio accounting. He has a degree in business management from Louisiana Tech University and previously worked in employee benefit administration at a life insurance company. He has over 21 years of experience in the investment management business.

Will Jackson

Associate

Will assists in operations and fixed income trading. Prior to joining Orleans Capital, he graduated from Louisiana State University in 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in finance and minor in computer science. At LSU, Will utilized Python to complete various projects, including estimating the return of the S&P 500 and creating a map of the LSU campus.

Amy A. LeBoeuf

Office Manager/Accounting

Formerly, Amy was an associate administrator in trust investments at a major regional bank. She assisted in all areas of investment management and marketing support. Prior to this, she was with the trust department of another bank. Amy holds a bachelor's degree from the University of New Orleans and has over 30 years of experience in the trust and investment management field.

Janet P. Tassin

Client Reporting - Administrative Support

Janet is responsible for client reporting and assists portfolio managers with fixed income portfolio analytics. Prior to joining Orleans Capital, she was a vice president for a regional bank and provided financial and cash management services to public and institutional clients.
